Raku Stool
This stool is inspired by Raku, which means "happiness in the accident," a Japanese pottery technique embodying the wabi-sabi aesthetic which embraces imperfection and ephemeral beauty in the unexpected.
Ironwood holds a special place in the beliefs of the native Dayak community in Borneo. They craft talismans and sculptures from it, believing in its mystical properties that keep tigers, elephants, and malevolent spirits at bay. They tell me it works for furniture too!
